What led you to a career in construction?
My path into construction was heavily influenced by my father. He was an IBEW wireman for many years before eventually moving to the office side of the business. After I spent a couple of years traveling, I returned home and hse offered me an opportunity to join the company. I started out as an assistant, learning the business from the ground up. One of my strengths has always been building strong relationships with people, and after a few months, my father encouraged me to focus on emerging technologies like solar and LED lighting. He saw an opportunity and wanted me to help introduce and sell these solutions to our partners. Over time, that focus on energy-efficient solutions evolved and expanded, eventually growing into what has become our Facility Solutions division.
What do you find most satisfying or rewarding about your current role?
What I find most rewarding about my current role in construction and electrical is the opportunity to bring new people into the industry and help them succeed. This field has provided incredible opportunities for me, and I’m passionate about creating those same opportunities for others. I take pride in mentoring and developing team members, helping them grow both professionally and personally. Building strong leaders within our company is especially meaningful to me. Watching someone gain confidence, develop their skills, and step into leadership roles is one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do.
What do you find most satisfying or rewarding about the industry?
Succeeding in a traditionally male-dominated field and helping pave the way for other women. It’s incredibly rewarding to navigate the challenges, earn respect, and build credibility through hard work and results. I’m proud to be part of an industry where I can demonstrate that leadership, technical knowledge, and relationship-building aren’t defined by gender. Being able to open doors, set an example, and encourage more women to pursue careers in construction and electrical work is one of the most meaningful aspects of what I do.
What are your ambitions in your career? In construction?
I want to intentionally develop future leaders within our company, to create a culture where people feel supported, challenged, and empowered to grow. Long term, I hope to be known not just for business success, but for the people I’ve helped build and bring along the way.
What would you say to women who are considering a career in construction?
For women considering career opportunities in construction, now is the time. The industry is booming, and it’s an essential field that will always be needed. There is tremendous opportunity for growth, financial stability, and leadership. Don’t let the fact that it’s traditionally male-dominated hold you back. There is absolutely a place for you here. This industry values hard work, problem-solving, and relationship-building — all skills women bring to the table in powerful ways. Construction has given me the opportunity to grow, lead, and help others succeed. If you’re willing to learn, work hard, and step outside your comfort zone, this field can offer an incredibly rewarding and lasting career.
