Remarcable joins MCAA

MCAA has spent decades backing mechanical contractors with leadership development, project management training, and chapter-level education. Why mechanical contractors need better procurement

The mechanical trade is growing. Energy-efficiency requirements, heat pump adoption, data center cooling, and commercial climate control are all driving project volume. HVAC mechanic and installer jobs are projected to grow 8% over the next decade, close to double the average across all occupations, and plumber and pipefitter work will open roughly 44,000 positions a year over the same period.

That growth puts real pressure on operations. A mechanical contractor manages thousands of SKUs across HVAC, plumbing, piping, and controls, coordinates submittals across trades, tracks vendor commitments and lead times, and keeps material moving across jobsites, warehouses, and prefab, all at once.

Most of that still runs on spreadsheets, inboxes, and phone calls. The industry needs an estimated 349,000 net new workers in 2026 and 456,000 in 2027, and adding people to a manual process doesn't fix the process. It only makes the gaps easier to see.
